The Australian Livestock & Property Agents Association (ALPA) is the National Peak Industry body for livestock and property agents. ALPA represents more than 1,200 agency businesses across Australia. Collectively this group plays an important role in Livestock, Wool, Merchandise and Rural Property sales and marketing. ALPA Members handle in excess of 97% of agency business Australia Wide. It is one of the largest organisations of small rural business men and women, relied on to protect the interests of agents and producers nationally.

ALPA RURAL PRESS LTD MIKE NIXON AWARD NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN:
The nominations for the 2009 ALPA Rural Press Ltd Mike Nixon award are now open. Now is the time to nominate for this prestigious award.
 
It is open to all ALPA Members and staff with no more than 10 years experience in the industry, including merchandise, rural land sales and livestock sales people.
The winner wins a trip to the Calgary Stampede in June 2010 with $1,000 spending money.

ALPA LENDS A HELPING HAND TO CHARITY:
ALPA members have helped raise over $1,371,000 by conducting charity auctions across the country for the finacial year ending 30th June 2009. ALPA organised a sale week where producers could drop off livestock to be sold and the proceeds being donated to the Red Cross Fire & Flood Appeal and raised over $76,500 from donated stock.

QUEENSLAND YOUNG AUCTIONEERS NEWS:
The selection school for the 2009 QLD YAC was held in conjunction with a general auctioneers school recently in Rockhampton. The following people will be contesting the 2009 ALPA QLD YAC on Friady 7th August at The EKKA.

Both Joel and Mitchell will return to Sydney in 2010 to contest the National Competition.

ALPA YOUNG AUCTIONEERS NATIONAL RESULTS APRIL 2009:
Congratulations to the winner, Dean Coxon, Elders Ltd, Swan Hill, VIC and the runner up Robbie Bloch, Davidson Cameron Bloch & Co, Ruralco, Inverell, NSW. Dean will now go to Calgary in July to compete in the World Auctioneers Competition.
NAB Shield won by Victoria with Dean Coxon and Brett Shea both of Elders Ltd combining to win this point score part of the competition.
